Susan Patricia -
Susan
Patricia was born in Los Angeles, California. She attended Los Angeles Trade Technical College where she received a degree
in Technical Illustration. She then completed further education at the Otis Parsons School of Design and at the University
of Los Angeles in computer graphics, surface pattern design and photography.
Susan
Patricia credits her parents for recognizing her artistic talent at an early age. They enrolled her in art classes when she
was just starting kindergarten and the first grade. She responded enthusiastically to the instruction, which, in combination
with her natural talent, helped her move rapidly toward further education as an adult and her entrance into the world of internationally
recognized artists.
Although
her initial education and work as a technical illustrator / graphic artist, she became interested in silk painting while on
vacation at a Club Med in Playa Blanca, Mexico. Subsequently, she went to work for Club Med teaching the craft to others.
Her teaching experience was an opportunity to develop her own skill, as well as, experiment with the technique. Captivated
by the color and vibrancy of the French dyes, and aided by her formal education, she rapidly developed a level of realism
and precision not ordinarily found in silk painting.
Susan Patricia's subject matter has been
strongly influenced by her extensive travels throughout Europe, Central America and the South Pacific. Vibrant, luminous color;
warm, tropical imagery; and a serene South Pacific mood are all embodied in her silk paintings.
Her work has been shown in major trade shows throughout the United States, Europe and Asia. She has enjoyed
success through special exhibitions of her work in prestigious galleries throughout the continental United States, Mexico,
Hawaii, Guam and Japan.
The
Hyatt Regency Hotels and the Embassy Suites Hotels in Hawaii have commissioned her for originals. Her art has been featured
in numerous publications including Hawaiian Airlines In Flight Magazine, Architectural Digest and other art related magazines.
Her art has also been licensed for use on many products including greeting cards, calendars, puzzles, apparel items and house
wares.
Susan
Patricia has taken the art form of silk painting and has developed a level of realism that lets her style stand out to be
recognized
Though
her travels throughout the South Pacific, Europe and Central America, she has been able to create a warm tropical imagery
through warm and vibrant colors that are so believable that if you stop and look at her artwork, you might hear the waves
and birds in the background.
